1. Today we will go over and discuss lab room rules and expectations.
A copy of the rules and future work complete in Technology will go in the Technology folder.

2. Ms. Nikki will also show you how to log onto the Compass 5 & 6 network.

3. We will explore Google Earth.

Tuesday, July 10th


1. We will practice our word processing skills by typing up our lab rules.
2. After typing our rules we will print our work.
3. We will create a folder with our name on the desktop.
4. All work will be saved in our folder.
5. All students will be assigned to a computer.
Please sit in your assigned seats when you come in for future technology classes because
that is where your work will be saved.

We will start our research for our Whale PowerPoint Presentation.

1. Use the "Whale Questions" Handout to guide your research. You may also use the "Graphic Organizer" handout to help you keep your information
organized for each slide of your PowerPoint Presentation.

2. First Choose a whale that you would like to research for your PowerPoint Presentation.

3. Click on the "All Things Whale" page. There are over 10 hyperlinks that can help you with your research.

4. For today look for information for slides 1 & 2.
Slide 1 - Research the general description of your whale.
Slide 2 - Research your whales social behaviors.

5. Record your information on the lines provided under each question.

  • When you are done, you may view the live whale web cam on the "All Things Whale" page.

2. We will continue with our Whale Internet research to gather information for our PowerPoint Presentation.

Slide 5 - Research migration patterns of your whale. See if you can find a map.
Slide 6 - Research your whales predators. What predators do they have? How do they protect themselves from their
predators.

1. We will watch a 2 minute video clip of the day.

Yayyyyy, we are finally done with our on-line research.
I am so proud of you all. You have done an exceptionally job with researching and recording
your information in your graphic organizers.

2. We will take a survey.

CLICK FireFox to open web browser.
Once on the homepage:
CLICK Grades 5&6
CLICK Survey Questions.
CLICK Open.

Follow me by looking at the projector screen and we will fill out the survey together.

After the survey is done:

4. We will be look for images of our whales by doing a Google / Image search.

5. We will save our images in our folders on the desktop.

6. If you have found your images for your PowerPoint presentation you may
visit the Harvard Museum of Natural History website.
We will be going on a field trip to the Harvard Museum of Natural History on Wednesday.

Tuesday, July 24

1. Today we will look at and discuss PowerPoint Design Principles.

2. We will explore PowerPoint, and then create our first Title Slide.

How to create a slide

3. When creating your PowerPoint, please remember to apply all the Design Principles
we talked about today.

Number one principle - Keep it subtle

4. We will save our file in our folders.

Thursday, July 26

1. We will look at our PowerPoint Rubric and Checklist. The Rubric helps us by
letting us know what is expected of the assignment. The Checklist will help
us remember the things we needs to do on our PowerPoint.
This will help us be more productive.

2. Then we will continue working on our PowerPoint Presentations.

3. We will type our information on 2-3 slides today.

4. Our class will be visiting the MIT museum tomorrow.

1. We will continue working on our PowerPoint presentation.

2. Then we will continue working on our PowerPoint Presentations.

3. We will type our information on 2-3 slides today.

1. Yayyy boys and girls we are close to being done with our PowerPoint Presentation.

2. Today we will add our 4 photographs to our slides, then we can check that off our PowerPoint checklist.

3. We can also add one clip art, and then check that off our list.

4. We will work on resizing our clip art and photographs so that it fits on our slides.

This is going to be a short 30 minute class.

1. We will work on our 2 slide transitions today for our PowerPoint presentations.
Look at your PowerPoint checklist, and check everything that you have done so far.

2. Complete all outstanding work on your checklist.
Today is the last day to finish up your PowerPoint Presentation.
